Sholden Action Group - Welcome To The Committee Page.

27 April  2008 held at 4 Hull Place

Present: Rob Jennings

                Pat Herbert
                Jim Cronk
                David Smith
                Mark Lord
                John Morris

First welcome to Mark Lord who has been co-opted on to committee as official camera man and excellent website designer.  Many thanks to Mark for all the good work put in on the web site. It looks great.

Actions from last minutes:

Both sites 1 and 4 have been confirmed as grade 1 agricultural land.

The turnout for last Sundays meeting was good, especially as the weather was not great.

Meeting
Friday’s turnout for the Dr Ladyman meeting was OK, but would have liked more people.  (Estimate 120).  Rob has sent e-mail to Dr Ladyman’s office thanking him for attending the meeting.

It was a revelation to discover that Dover District Council applied last year to the government for ‘Growth Point’.  This has never been mentioned previously in any meeting with the Councillors.  It does mean that Dover definitely wants to pursue Option 4.  There is £40million available to be divided between all Growth Points during 2007/8.  (29 Growth Points countrywide).

We really need to emphasize the fact that Dover and Sholden should be treated totally different.  What might be suitable for Dover is not suitable for Sholden.  (Core Strategy: Page 6, Introduction, Item 2.8).

As no one from East Kent Mercury was available to attend this meeting, they have requested that we send one.  Therefore a press release statement has been made by Rob.  They can also access the Sholden Action Group web site for photos if required.

Finance:
Collected £124:27 towards fighting fund, to go with £230 previously collected.
Banner cost £115 and was money well spent.  Positioning of banner after this Tuesdays meeting to be decided, perhaps by main road leading to Sholden New Road?  Rob to check with owner of property there.

We need to attach a logo to all documents – Web page leaf a good one to start with.

Tuesdays Meeting

In order to make life easier for those wishing to object to the LDF Mark and Bruce are to liase in getting a response form formatted.

David has had printed 200 official response forms.

Web site to include idiots guide to objecting via the DDC website.

A.O.B

Once the 7th May has gone there is little we can do for a while, but should encourage residents to attend the District Councillors meeting to see how local councillors are voting.  Perhaps they need reminding they are actually working for us, and can be voted out.

John writing letter to NFU reference building on grade 1 land when there is a food shortage.  Also to contact DEFRA/ Countryside Alliance and perhaps Kent Wildlife trust.

English Heritage/Floodline/Environment Agency and Police should be contacted to get their view.

Terry to organise a table at the Mongeham boot fair in order to try and raise funds.

So far only 6 people have filled in the objection forms on the DDC website.  (Perhaps it is too complicated to fathom out).  Jim to try and find out how many letters has been written.

Deal Town Council whilst concerned over lack of improved infrastructure and in favour of the high growth option 4.

Date of next meeting: 6th May at 7:00pm in Village Hall (if available).
