The Sholden Action Group was established in March 2008 as a result of Sholden Parish Council drawing the attention of the residents of the village to the new planning initiatives being proposed by Dover District Council.
The Sholden Parish Council held two meetings to explain to residents how these proposals would affect the village.
These proposals are known as the LDF (Local Development Framework) which when adopted will replace the Dover District Local Plan and will form the policy of Dover District Council for this area for the next 20 years.
The LDF itself has been drawn up by Dover District Council as a result of Government Policy .….in effect the Government lays down the broad policy leaving the District Council to select, agree and implement detailed plans.
It was apparent, following the above meetings, that there was considerable opposition to Dover’s planning proposals for Sholden and it was for this reason that the Sholden Action Group was formed in order to manage the campaign of opposition.
As a democratic body a committee and chairman were voted upon at a public meeting., held on 25th March 2008.
The Sholden Action Group will work in partnership with the Parish Council.
Contact details for the members of the committee have been circulated throughout the village and are posted on the website (Committee and Contacts).
You can find all upcoming events under our (Calendar).
The Action Group is totally opposed to the proposals for Sholden as detailed in the LDF
